Bonded Sisters Surrendered To Kill Shelter, Keep Each Other Strong as They Await Uncertain Future

Life at the Carson Animal Shelter is no cake walk to say and write the least. It takes a special kind of dog, with an emotional resilience unlike any other, to survive the daily grind of the place without going completely insane.

Carson, a notorious facility known for its high-kill rate, is not a place where hope abounds. Hope is about as desolate, as the dismal emptiness of a bad breakup. For two bonded sisters named Thelma and Louise, they could tell you all about the politics of Carson if they could talk.

Unfortunately, their owner was facing eviction from his landlord and was told to choose between the two dogs or a place to live. They had no choice but to heartbreakingly surrender Thelma, and Louise, who openly wept as their owner said one last goodbye. Sad indeed.

According to my source at the shelter, the two, who share a kennel together, keep each other strong. They can often be found huddled together during the day, moving very far from one another and do just about everything together.

A Petharbor listing for Thelma(#A5041320) reads:

“My name is Thelma and I am described as a female, chocolate and tan Labrador Retriever and Alaskan Husky.”

A Petharbor listing for Louise(#A5041322) reads:

“My name is LOUISE and I’m an approximately 1-year-old female Terrier. I am not yet spayed.”
